Hi there! I’m Jo. I love to bake. This is my first blog…
My passion for all things baked started in childhood. I remember returning home from school to fabulous smells of my mother’s fresh bakes in the kitchen. I didn’t really start to bake until after the birth of my first child 9 years ago. I have been baking ever since and am at my most content when in my kitchen, listening to the radio, experimenting with new recipes! Hence, ‘The Contented Baker’.
So why this Blog?
I love to bake but have found that I have fallen into a bit of a baking ‘rut’ by making the same things over and over. The purpose of my blog is to broaden my baking repertoire, challenge myself in trying out new recipes and to try and bring myself into the current technological age! (I am pretty inept in this respect).
More importantly, I hope that it may encourage those who would otherwise put off baking, to don an apron and get excited about the prospect of trying to bake what they see.
This Blog is not…
About picture perfect bakes that look far too good to eat. It’s about a range of fare that anyone can bake at home, to share and enjoy with those they love.
I have a section ‘Contented Little Bakes’ in my Recipe Index which are bakes which may appeal particularly to children’s palates or child friendly occasions.
As for me…
I live with my husband and three children in Surrey, UK. I have no formal training in any culinary field. Prior to having children I was a Chartered Quantity Surveyor. Life is busy.
I sincerely hope you find something here that will whet your appetite. Bake something you can be proud of!
